Fall River, Mass. (WPRI) – Friends and family gather at accident scene to mourn Kory Cabral who was killed in a motorcycle crash on Friday night.
On Saturday devastated friends and family spent hours at the crash site where a memorial has begun to grow.
23-year-old Kory Cabral was riding his motorcycle on Brayton Avenue Friday night, when police say he lost control, ran off the road and hit a parked car at Caraballo’s Auto Sales. The Bristol County’s District Attorney’s office believe he was going too fast.
A man who only wanted to be identified as Kris, saw the aftermath of the crash. “I seen the guy moving and [then] stop moving. It’s not a good sight,” He said.
Cabral’s girlfriend was at the scene on Saturday, she and Cabral have a son together, she was too devastated to talk.
Her cousin, Grace Sousa spoke about the couple”s 3-year-old son. “How is she going to explain to her baby that’s 3 years old, how is she going to explain, ok your daddy died?”
Cabral’s family says Kory was an amazing father with a heart of gold, and that he was employed as an electrician.
“He was always at work, he did his job, and he came home to his family, you know,” said Sousa.
Andrew Abelha told Eyewitness News that he tried to help Cabral but his injuries were too serious. “This winter was really bad and I think people are anxious to get out and do summertime things and I think people need to be more cautious when they do that sort of stuff,” Said Abelha.
For Cabral’s family, the only comfort is each other and the knowledge that Kory will live on through his son.
“He’s going to be deeply missed by a lot of people,” Said friend Samantha Dillon.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for Cabral’s funeral.
