Friars head coach taken to hospital during game

CINCINNATI, Ohio (WPRI) — Providence College men’s basketball head coach Ed Cooley left the team’s game in Cincinnati Saturday afternoon and was taken to the hospital.

According to the team’s website, Cooley left due to to illness two minutes into the second half. At the time, the Friars were leading 42-34, but ended up falling to the Xavier Musketeers by a score of 78-69.

According to a Tweet by Associate Head Coach Andre LaFluer, Cooley was not feeling well and was taken to the hospital for some tests.

Cooley did not travel back to Providence and instead was admitted into the hospital, according to our news partners at The Providence Journal. The paper said more information about Cooley’s condition was expected Sunday
