PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Volunteer dentists and hygienists held a clinic to offer free dental work to Rhode Islanders without dental insurance.

The nonprofit Rhode Island Oral Health Foundation held its 4th annual Mission of Mercy free dental clinic Saturday and Sunday at the Community College of Rhode Island’s Flanagan Campus in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

The nonprofit said its goal was to treat 1,000 people who are uninsured, underinsured or otherwise unable to get dental care.

The services included cleanings, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, X-rays, oral health education, fillings, tooth extractions, some root canal treatments and minor denture repairs.
