The Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown, Massachusetts, was built between 1907 and 1910 to commemorate the first landfall of the Pilgrims in 1620 and the signing in Provincetown Harbor of the Mayflower Compact.

PROVINCETOWN, Mass. (AP) — A fishing crew pulling in nets off Provincetown found a body entangled in one of them.

State Police say the body was found by the New Bedford-based crew of the Hera early Thursday morning. The boat then went to Provincetown Harbor to meet authorities.

No details were released about the identity of the body.

Cape and Islands Assistant District Attorney Tara Miltimore tells the Cape Cod Times the state medical examiner had accepted jurisdiction of the case.  She said the matter is under investigation.

Three New Bedford fishermen have been missing since November after going to fish for mackerel in the area, but there was no public indication that the two cases were connected.
