Firefighters rescue seagull with impaled wing in Fairhaven

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WPRI) — A seagull is on the mend after it was rescued by firefighters in Fairhaven Tuesday.

According to the Fairhaven Fire Department, crews responded to a call from staff at Fairhaven High School who reported that a seagull was trapped on the roof of the building after having its wing impaled on a lightning rod.

With the use of a latter truck, the fire department said crews were able to release the seagull’s wing from the lightning rod. The bird was then transported to Fairhaven Animal Control to be treated for its injuries.
