Firefighters quickly contain fire in Silver Lake home

News

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Fire crews were able to make quick work of an early-morning house fire Tuesday.

The fire broke out just after 5 a.m. near the intersection of What Cheer and Pocasset Avenues, in the city’s Silver Lake section.

According to officials on scene, no one was in the home at the time of the fire.

Battalion Chief Ken Cirelli said crews had some trouble getting around inside the home.

“We had a little issue with a stairway in the back,” Cirelli said. “It was the only stairway to the second floor, it’s a little small, so we had a little issue trying to make entry.”

One firefighter was transported to the hospital with minor burns.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
