SCITUATE, R.I. (WPRI) — A firefighter was injured early Wednesday morning while on the scene of a car crash.

The Hope Jackson fire chief said one of his men was injured while assisting a tow truck at the scene of a car crash around 1:30 a.m.

According to the fire chief, the firefighter was taken to the hospital with a minor calf injury. He is expected to be out of work for some time.

Crews were assisting on the scene after a car crashed into a pole in an intersection at Routes 6 and 116.
