FOXBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — It has been nearly 15-months since the Deflategate saga began and the alleged football tampering case will not go away quietly.
A federal appeals court on Monday reversed a court ruling from last September, which reinstates Tom Brady’s four-game suspension.
“We’re dragging up the whole issue again, unfortunately the whole United States seems to think we’re cheaters and we’re not,” said Joan Branton.
The future Hall of Famer does have a few options:
- He could request a re-hearing in the 2nd circuit court, where all 13 judges hear the case as opposed to only three.
- Try to renegotiate with the NFL to cut the suspension, which has not worked in the past.
- Brady could take the case all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court.
No matter what happens, the fans are sticking by Tom Brady the entire way.
“I think Tom should go all the way with this because if he didn’t do anything wrong, why would you not want to be vindicated,” said Bill Dorazio.
Even Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump expressed his disappointment at a campaign event in Warwick, as he told critics to “leave Tom Brady alone.”
Others are not too worried, and see it as an opportunity for the team’s backup quarterback.
“I think no matter who they put in there, just like when [Drew] Bledsoe went down and Brady came in, I think [Jimmy] Garoppolo will be the same way,” said Dorazio. “It may take him a few games to get his feet under himself, but I think he’ll be fine.”
