Fall River police investigating shooting

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — A 23-year-old man was listed in critical condition Monday afternoon after being shot in the leg Monday morning in Fall River.

Police Sgt. J.T. Hoar told Eyewitness News the victim was shot outside Gilbert’s Jewelers on Pleasant Street, then went inside the business to ask for help.

Hoar said the man then left the store and walked down the street, heading north on Thomas Street.

The victim – who police have not yet named – was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with critical injuries, Hoar said.

As of 12:15 p.m. Monday, no suspects were in custody. Hoar said investigators believe two suspects may have gotten into a car and driven away. However, there was no immediate vehicle description available.
