EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — An energy technology company is celebrating a major expansion.
A special ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Monday for Aspen Aerogels. The East Providence company just completed its third manufacturing line.
Governor Gina Raimondo, Senator Jack Reed, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse and local community leaders were present at the event.
“I am honored to be here today to celebrate another innovative and growing company in Rhode Island,” said Governor Raimondo, who spoke at the event. “Aspen’s investment in our state and their continuous growth is a clear sign that companies can make it in Rhode Island and bring more jobs to the Ocean State.”
The new line expands the facility’s capacity by 25 percent to meet growing demand – and has led to a number of job openings.
