East Side shooting sends man to hospital

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are investigating an early morning shooting in Providence.

Police say around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, a 38-year-old man was walking on Hope Street on the city’s East Side when he says he flagged down a car.

The victim told police there were two men inside a silver car, and one of them shot him twice.

Rescue personnel says the man’s wounds appear to have come from a pellet or BB-style gun.

Police say the victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities are still searching for suspects.
