EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Police in East Providence are investigating a stabbing that left a man with ‘significant’ injuries.

According to Chief Christopher Parrella, it happened in the area of Warren Avenue and Lyon Avenue at about midnight Saturday night.

Chief Parrella confirmed the victim, Jasper Williams, is the same man who was charged in a 2012 double-stabbing of two brothers, and is well known to police.

Williams was found guilty on two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and two counts of assault and battery in December 2014.

Investigators continue to work Sunday’s case.

East Providence Police plan to hold a news conference at 10 a.m. Monday concerning this investigation.
