News

SWANSEA, Mass. (WPRI) — A vehicle crashed and rolled over in Swansea overnight after police say the driver fled a traffic stop in a separate town.

According to Swansea police, the car was traveling east on Old Warren Road when at about 12:30 a.m. it appeared to have left the roadway, hit a parked vehicle and overturned.

The driver was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the vehicle was initially pulled over in Bristol but sped off, leading officers on a chase into Warren then across the state border into Swansea.

The crash remains under investigation and police said charges against the driver are forthcoming.
