Dartmouth police investigating fatal hit-and-run accident

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (WPRI) — Dartmouth police are searching for a driver in a deadly hit-and-run accident.

Stasha Lynn Faria, 33, of Westport, was struck and killed near 653 State Road on Saturday night around 7 p.m.

Eyewitness News spoke with family members of the victim, who said she was optimistic, artistic, and a wonderful mother. Now they are hoping the driver turns themselves into police.

Family members put up a memorial at the site and say Faria leaves behind a 6-year-old daughter. Her aunt says Faria was a great writer who was especially skilled in poetry.

New Bedford resident Joshua Camara said he used to run on Route 6, but doesn’t anymore.

“I’ve seen some accidents there and I’ve seen some pretty bad drivers driving on the side of the road, all over the road, so I stay away from Route 6,” Camara said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Dartmouth Police Department at (508) 910-1700.
