WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — A longtime annual tradition and one of Southern New England’s premier professional golf charity events is on its way back to Barrington.
For the past two decades, the CVS Health Charity Classic has brought some of golf’s biggest names to Rhode Island to not only show off their skills but to raise millions of dollars for local charities.
Now in its 21st year, the event will be held at the Rhode Island Country Club from June 20-24.
Tournament hosts Billy Andrade and Brad Faxon announced who will be participating this year at Special Olympics Rhode Island on Monday.
This year’s field includes fan favorites Keegan Bradley, Morgan Pressel, Billy Horschel, and Lydia Ko. Newcomers Max Homa and Darren Clarke will also be competing.
The event will also include Crave RI, which kicks off the event series on June 20-21. It is a two-day, family-friendly culinary celebration at the Dunking Donuts Center in Providence. This year it will feature 100 restaurants and more than 150 beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverage profiles. Tickets to this event are now available online.
Once again partnering with New England sports teams, the event will also bring celebrity athletes from the Boston Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and the New England Patriots on June 23.
The CVS Health Charity Classic has raised more than $22 million since 1999.
