Somerset robbery suspect caught after chase

WESTPORT, Mass. (WPRI) — A Fall River man suspected of robbing a Somerset market last week was arrested Tuesday afternoon, following incidents in two other communities.

Dartmouth police said officers tried to pull over 29-year-old Justin Tunney-Lassiter on Faunce Corner Road around 1 p.m., shortly after a suspect matching his description shoplifted from the nearby Target. Police said Tunney-Lassiter refused to stop and drove into Dartmouth Mall parking lot. Police said he hit a person and several vehicles, so officers decided to stop the pursuit. The person hit was evaluated at the scene and refused further treatment, according to police.

About an hour later, Dartmouth police said Tunney-Lassiter was arrested during an incident in Westport.

The arrest happened hours after Somerset police identified Tunney-Lassiter as the suspect in the robbery of Lil Audrey’s Market back on December 5th.

Somerset police confirmed Tunney-Lassiter’s capture on the department’s Facebook page.

Dartmouth police said they would charge Tunney-Lassiter with shoplifting and several motor vehicle offenses.
