Crime

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Police are searching for suspects after a man was stabbed late Tuesday night.

The incident occurred outside a Cranston Street convenience store around 11:40 p.m. Police say the clerk inside the store called 911 after seeing the victim bleeding in the parking lot.

Because of this, police are not certain of the events leading up to the attack.

According to Lieutenant Joseph Dufault of the Providence Police Department, 28-year-old Conrado Urizar was stabbed several times in the abdomen. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries described as serious, but not life-threatening.

No arrests were made at the scene, but police do not believe the incident was a random attack.

According to witnesses, two men were seen fleeing the scene on foot.

As of early Wednesday morning, no arrests had been made.

Police said no weapons were recovered at the scene.
