Former Cranston Police chief arrested following ‘domestic incident’

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Former Cranston Police Chief Marco Palombo was arrested Thursday night, Col. Michael Winquist of the Cranston Police Department told Eyewitness News.

Palombo, 53, is facing charges of domestic disorderly conduct and domestic assault, both misdemeanors.

Winquist said police were called to Palombo’s home following a 911 call of a “domestic incident.” Police took Palombo into custody based on observations by officers and witness statements, Winquist said.

Palombo was arraigned at Cranston Police headquarters by a justice of the peace and released on $1,000 personal recognizance, Winquist said. He was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim and is due back in court on December 12.
