East Greenwich man dead after taxi is struck by alleged drunk driver


ATTLEBORO, Mass (WPRI) — Massachusetts State Police are investigating after a passenger in a taxi was killed in a crash around 1 a.m. Saturday morning on Interstate 95.

According to state police, 41-year-old Michael Spinale of Roslindale, Mass., was driving a 2014 Kia Cadenza at a high rate of speed when he rear-ended a taxi cab on I-95 South in Attleboro.

The crash killed a 39-year-old Kailash Bolar of East Greenwich, who police said was a passenger in the taxi. State police initially reported to media that the victim was a woman but issued the correction around 3 p.m.

The taxi driver, a 50-year-old Brockton man, suffered minor injuries.

Spinale was charged with motor vehicle homicide, operating under the influence of liquor and negligent operation, speeding, failure to use care in stopping and failure to stay within marked lanes.

He was held on $10,000 bail pending his arraignment in Attleboro District Court on Monday.
