TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) — A woman was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound Wednesday night following a robbery attempt at a Taunton liquor store, city police said.

Just before 6 a.m. Thursday, police said they’d made two arrests: a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old male.

Officers had responded to a reported armed robbery at Eagan’s Package Store on Cohannet Street about 8:45 p.m.

The victim, the owner of the store, reportedly fought back against the attackers and called 911 herself.

The 41-year old woman was conscious when she was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, according to police. As of Thursday morning, she was listed in serious but stable condition.

It does not appear any money or goods were taken from the store.
