Crews rescue driver after Richmond crash

Richmond Nooseneck Hill Road crash

RICHMOND, R.I. (WPRI) — Emergency crews used the Jaws of Life Sunday to save a driver after a crash in Richmond.

According to Richmond police, Jeffery Fortin was traveling north on Nooseneck Hill Road around 9:30 a.m. when his van veered off the road and hit a utility pole. The pole broke into three pieces and power lines fell on top of the vehicle, police said.

Fortin, 43, of Richmond, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

National Grid rerouted power so first responders to remove the Fortin from the vehicle. Power has since been restored to the area.
