BRISTOL, Conn. (WPRI) — The Cranston Western Little League team evened up its record Thursday with a win against Massachusetts in the Little League Baseball’s New England Regional Tournament.

After losing its first game Monday to Connecticut, the team pulled out a 11-4 victory against Massachusetts.

The Cranston team is trying to follow in the footsteps of the Cumberland American Little League team and advance to the Little League World Series.

The tournament is double elimination. The Newton team’s journey is over. But, the boys from Cranston will play on..

They will play a rematch against Connecticut Friday at 11 a.m. in Bristol, Connecticut. If they win Friday, the team would have to win again Saturday in order to get to the championship game Sunday afternoon. The winner of that game would advance to the Little League Baseball World Series.

A softball team from Warwick is already representing the East in the Little League Softball World Series, which is taking place in Oregon. The girls from Warwick North are set to play their first game Friday.
