COVENTRY, R.I. (WPRI) — The Coventry Little League team returned home Tuesday and the players were greeted by a crowd of supporters celebrating their efforts in the Little League World Series.
The team arrived at Paine Field Tuesday afternoon after traveling from Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Coventry was eliminated from the tournament by way of a 3-1 loss to Houston on Thursday and a 9-5 loss to Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday, but the boys were able to go out on a high note with a 15-0 consolation win over Australia on Monday.
“It’s been an amazing experience,” Player Logan Llama said. “We all did very well and we all did our best, and now obviously we’re glad to be home.”
“The kids have lived like rock stars and to finish it with their family and friends is an amazing way to end it,” Team Manager Lou Simon added.
