PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Central Falls man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman he believed was his daughter.

A state Superior Court judge sentenced 75-year-old Ernest Sabourin on Friday. A jury found Sabourin guilty in May of first-degree sexual assault and other charges related to the incident.

Prosecutors say Sabourin sexually assaulted a 23-year-old woman in April 2014 and believed at the time that she was his biological daughter.

Prosecutors say a DNA sample from a sexual assault evidence kit was later matched to Sabourin, and the DNA evidence showed that Sabourin was not the woman’s father.

Sabourin was previously convicted of indecent assault and carnal knowledge of a child in 1978 and felony assault in 2002.
