Cause of death revealed for resident in Providence group home

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Eyewitness News has learned new information in regards to a 70-year-old woman who passed away in February.

According to the state medical examiner’s office, the woman died from complications from a leg fracture after breaking her leg at a state run group home.

Barbara Annis was a resident at the College Park apartments, and died shortly after being admitted to the hospital.

The group home has been shut down, forcing residents to moved to other facilities.

Five employees have been placed on paid leave pending investigation.
