GLENDALE, A.Z. (WPRI) — It’s impossible to be an event like the Super Bowl, and not take several pictures. With thousands of people flying into Arizona for Sunday’s big game, wireless carriers are stepping up their game to meet the increased data demand.

“We have to be ready. We are ready. “AT&T spokesman Scott Huscher told Eyewitness News.

A number of so-called cells on wheels have been brought into the Phoenix area to boost cell signals.

“A phone network is like a highway. It gets congested, so these are like adding lanes so everyone can use it,” Huscher explained.

AT&T says every single year, the data demand goes up in the Super Bowl host city. Last year in New York, more than 600 gigabytes were used. That number is expected to grow again in Arizona.
