ATTLEBORO, Ma (WPRI)- State police troopers dispatched to a car fire on 95 in Attleboro early Wednesday morning not only found a car on fire, but it matched the description of a car that Rhode Island State Police had given out for operating erratically.
A 34 year old drunk man was standing near the car.
When a trooper searched the suspect, he found a loaded .380 Bersa handgun on him.
The man didn’t have a license to carry a firearm and had a criminal record, which bars him from obtaining a license.
The suspect was arrested.
He is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as carrying a firearm while intoxicated.
The cause of the car fire is under investigation.
