Cape Cod crash kills two Saturday night


YARMOUTH, Mass. (WPRI) – Two people were killed in a West Yarmouth car crash Saturday night.

Yarmouth police and fire departments responded to the two-car crash on Buck Island Road near the entrance to the Halcyon Condominium complex around 10:40 p.m.

Despite extensive lifesaving measures by officials at the scene of the crash, two people died. The driver of a 2004 GMC Sierra heading westbound on Buck Island Road died at the scene. She has been identified as 22-year-old Caroline Liberty of West Yarmouth. The passenger of the 2012 Audi Q7 driving eastbound on Buck Island Road also died. He was identified as 56-year-old Thomas Ardan of Charlton.

The driver of the 2012 Audi Q7 was the third person involved in the crash. The 60-year-old female was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital and then transferred to Brigham and Women’s Hospital with life threatening injuries.

A portion of Buck Island Road was closed for approximately four hours into early Sunday morning while officials investigated. The investigation by the Yarmouth Police Department detective division is still ongoing.
