Seekonk crash sends 3 to hospital; Route 6 back open

Breaking News

SEEKONK, Mass. (WPRI) — Traffic is flowing again on Route 6 in Seekonk after a serious crash sent three people to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

It took place around 1 p.m. on the westbound side of the road, between At Home and Not Your Average Joe’s.

Seekonk Police Captain Matthew Jardine says the crash involved four vehicles, two of which sustained extensive damage.

A white van, which ended up on its side, appeared to have slammed into the back of a car, completely crushing its rear end, according to Jardine.

There were five people between the four vehicles and three were taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but Jardine said they’re expected to be OK.

Traffic was backed up in the area as a result, but Route 6 has since fully reopened.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
