Man, 61, dies after being pulled from the water at Narragansett Town Beach

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) — A 61-year-old man has died after being pulled from the water at Narragansett Town Beach Sunday afternoon.

According to police, the man was at the beach with a friend when he became distressed in the water around 4 p.m.

The man began waving his arms for help when someone saw him, jumped in the water, and pulled him out.

The man was not breathing and CPR was performed on the beach, according to Sgt. Keith Lagasse. He was then transported to South County Hospital where he later died.

Police say the man went into cardiac arrest in the water.

No further details were immediately available.
