Man found trapped in New Bedford house fire, rushed to hospital

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — Firefighters were called to a house fire on Myrtle Street in New Bedford Saturday evening.

Crews were met by smoke and flames when they arrived to the scene shortly after 5 p.m.

The fire chief says firefighters found a man in the second floor of the home. He was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition.

The fire left behind extensive damage to the second floor. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
