Boil-water advisory issued for Wakefield residents

WAKEFIELD, R.I. (WPRI) — A water main issue has prompted the Rhode Island Department of Health to issue a precautionary boil-water advisory for residents of one area of Wakefield.

The advisory impacts customers of the SUEZ water system that live on Narragansett Avenue and Old Tower Hill Road from the Dale Carlia Shopping Center to the Wakefield Mall.

The health department said those residents currently don’t have water service and that SUEZ is working to address the problem. Once service is restored, customers should boil their water before it’s consumed in any way.

Officials said it’s safe to bathe or wash clothes without first boiling the water.

For more information, customers should contact the SUEZ water system at (401) 789-0271.
