BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WPRI) – Police have confirmed that a body discovered at a Burrillville home Friday is that of a man who had been missing for almost a month.

Police Chief Stephen Lynch announced Saturday afternoon that the body has been positively identified as 60 year-old Domingo Ortiz of Worcester. He had last been seen at the house at 505 Douglas Pike on May 5th, and police were investigating it as a missing-person case.

Ortiz’s body was found Friday after police returned to the home with another warrant. He had been buried under three to four inches of cement under a newly-constructed deck.

Ortiz’s daughter, Betsie Hazzard, first reported her father missing earlier this month and was worried that he may have been dead.

“If he’s dead we want to lay him to rest properly,” says Hazzard. “Not have him out in the woods or somewhere. You know what I’m saying? It’s just not, it’s not right for families to have to go through this. All day we can’t sleep; we can’t eat.”

Lynch confirmed that a homicide investigation is now underway.
