JAMESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) – Officials are investigating after a boat ran aground near the Beavertail Lighthouse.

The U.S. Coast Guard got a call around 10 a.m. Wednesday about a 31-foot Sea Ray boat with four people on board.

Lt. Jarrod Pomajzl, Chief of Command of the Center for Sector Southeast New England, said the boat ended up drifting into the rocks and ran aground near the lighthouse.

Nobody on board was hurt.

Lt. Pomajzl said one person jumped off the boat and tried to rope it, and everyone else on board followed.

As of Wednesday night, the boat was still stuck and the boat’s owner was trying to come up with a plan to move it.

It’s unclear what caused the boat to become disabled.
