EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Summer is a notoriously difficult time to fulfill blood supply needs, as donors from schools and businesses go on vacation. That’s why WPRI 12 and its sister stations held a blood drive Monday afternoon outside our studios at 25 Catamore Boulevard in East Providence.
Every day across the United States, more than 30,000 units of red blood cells are needed.
Presenting donors were entered to win a four-pack of tickets to the Lake Compounce water park in Connecticut.
If you didn’t get a chance to donate at the station, contact the Rhode Island Blood Center if you’d like to make an appointment.
