BIG GAME BEAT: Patriots putting on the finishing touches

News

ATLANTA (WPRI) — The New England Patriots held their final practice on Friday, so now all that’s left to do is mentally prepare for their biggest game of the season and for some players, the biggest game of their lives.

“A lot of people, their whole careers, they’ve never been to a Super Bowl,” rookie RB Sony Michel said. “So for me, to be here with my teammates my rookie year, it’s an amazing feeling.”

“You’ve got to control your emotions, and you’ve got to realize that this is work. This is a business trip,” WR Julian Edelman said. “You’re not coming here to have all the glitz and glamours of Super Bowl weekend. I’m here to go out there and try to win a football game.”

The details are crucial when it comes to winning a championship and while the Patriots’ game plan is in place, the team will be fine-tuning their tactics right up until kickoff, with hopes of taking a sixth Lombardi Trophy back home to New England.

“It’s a great opportunity,” head coach Bill Belichick said. “You put everything you have into it and do the best you can.”

The majority of players who spoke to Eyewitness Sports said they expect to sleep well Saturday night, despite the mounting pressure.
