SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — South Kingstown Police are investigating a crash that left a bicyclist critically injured.

A 22-year-old woman from Cheshire, Massachusetts was riding her bike on Route 1 by Jerry Brown Farm Road Tuesday afternoon when police say she was struck from behind by a BMW driven by an 88-year-old woman.

The bicyclist was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital with critical injuries.

Police do not believe alcohol played a role in the collision.

As of Wednesday, no charges had been filed and no names had been released.
