Attorney accused of collecting deceased man’s retirement


BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WPRI) — A local attorney has been suspended from practicing law in the state of Rhode Island.

A court spokesperson confirms that Oleg Nikolyszyn has been accused of collecting a deceased man’s retirement.

Nikolyszyn recently resigned as the town solicitor of Burrillville.

A court official tells us the lawyer purportedly collected a pension on behalf of another man who died 13 years ago.

According to a State Supreme Court order, he is accused of a “serious professional misconduct.”

The allegations against him point to roughly $101,000 in monthly pension payments on behalf of a man for died back in 2003, according to Craig Berke, public information officer for the Rhode Island Judiciary.

Eyewitness News reached out to Nikolyszyn for his side of the story, But he nor his attorney cared to comment on the matter.

Nikolyszyn has not been criminally charged, but Berke said the matter has been referred to local and federal law enforcement.
