Analyst: Saturday’s primaries could provide momentum for GOP

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Five states were voting in primaries and caucuses Saturday.

For the Republicans, voters in Maine, Kansas, Kentucky and Louisiana were casting their ballots. Democrats were also voting in Louisana, Nebraska and Kansas.

So far, Ted Cruz won in Kansas.

Eyewitness News Reporter Kim Kalunian spoke with our political analyst Joe Fleming about the contests and their significance.

According to Fleming, there wasn’t a huge number of delegates at stake – but if candidates perform well, it could provide some momentum.

“There’s a lot of momentum at stake for candidates, especially on the Republican side,” Fleming said. “Tonight will give us our first signs on whether there’s going to be any change in the Republican race for president.”
