Amtrak train delayed after incident in Central Falls

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) — A Boston bound Amtrak train was delayed for a little more than an hour Saturday following an incident in Central Falls.

Eyewitness News cameras were on the scene Saturday evening as Central Falls police and fire, as well as Amtrak police responded to the tracks off Clay Street.

An Amtrak spokesperson confirmed, the train came in contact with a person who was trespassing on the tracks at 5:43 p.m.  Their immediate condition is not known.

The spokesperson said there were no injuries reported to the 173 passengers and crew members on board Amtrak Northeast Train 82.

She said the Amtrak police are working with Central Falls police to investigate the incident.
