6-year-old girl dies in late-night Plainfield fire

PLANFIELD, Conn. (WPRI) — A six-year-old girl has died in a late-night fire. It happened in Plainfield, Connecticut, right over the Rhode Island border.

A woman and an 18-month-old child were pulled to safety through a window and a man made it out safely. But, the victim was found dead inside.

Our CBS-affiliate in Hartford is reporting the fire was in a Habitat for Humanity home built just three months ago.

There’s no word yet on what caused it.

Two police officers were treated for smoke inhalation.
