Saturday, January 26 – 7-11 p.m.

Viewers can join the WPRI team who will be alongside the amazing young co-hosts, who also happen to be students at Meeting Street School — Madisyn, Athan, Jason, and Mercy for a night that has become a heartwarming local tradition.

“It’s wonderful to see this amazing evening come together each year – all the volunteers, the dedicated Meeting Street staff, the generous sponsors, and of course the kids,” Patrick Wholey, President and General Manager of WPRI 12 & FOX Providence said last year as the 2018 telethon wrapped up.

The four-hour telethon will include an inside look at what goes on at Meeting Street, special segments featuring children in Meeting Street’s programs and live interviews with Meeting Street families.

For more than seven decades, Meeting Street has been educating students with and without disabilities, with the generous support of the school’s many donors.

This year, Eyewitness News anchors Mike Montecalvo, Shannon Hegy, and Chief Meteorologist Tony Petrarca will host the telethon at Meeting Street in Providence. Eyewitness News anchors Danielle North, Patrick Little, and Meteorologist Michelle Muscatello, as well as the Rhode Show’s Will Gilbert, Michaela Johnson, and Brendan Kirby, will also be there showing viewers around the facility and making lively introductions to the Meeting Street students and staff.

Families who attend the telethon can enjoy activities in the Meeting Street gym, view online auction items in person, and meet some of the Meeting Street children and their families. Among many items to be auctioned off this year are tickets to the Super Bowl in Atlanta and an autographed guitar by Hootie and the Blowfish.

The funds raised during the telethon will benefit local families and help the organization achieve its mission of “getting the best out of every child.”

Meeting Street describes itself as a place where infants, preschoolers, and children of all ages receive individual attention from highly trained educators. Its mission is to “compassionately and innovatively empower children and their families to thrive by fostering the development of the whole child.”
