BROCKTON, Mass. (WPRI) — Police have arrested two teens accused of a carjacking in Brockton that led to a high-speed chase and ended in a rollover crash in Norton.
According to the Massachusetts State Police, the suspects punched an 82-year-old male in the face outside of a candy store and drove off in his Lexus on North Main Street.
Police said troopers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle on Route 24 Southbound in Brockton. The suspects led troopers on a brief pursuit, with driving speeds up to 100 mph at times, onto Route 495 Northbound towards Raynham.
The pursuit continued into Norton and the car eventually rolled over near Cranberry Lane. At that point, police said the suspects got out of the car and fled on foot.
Police arrested a 16-year-old from Holbrook, Mass. and a 17-year-old from Providence, R.I. nearby on Susan Circle. Both were booked at the Foxboro barracks and sent to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries from the crash.
The juvenilles will both face criminal charges related to the incident.
