PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Two men were arrested Wednesday after police say they were caught dumping gasoline near a stream in Pawtucket.
Police said they were called to Grenville Street Wednesday afternoon after a city emplyee noticed two men dumping something into the ground. They arrived to find Olivio Lima and Pedro Lopes emptying a large plastic container onto a grassy area, according to police.
Lima, 43, of Pawtucket, and Lopes, 32, of Brockton, were taken to police headquarters for questioning. They were later charged with a hazardous waste violation and arraigned in court.
Police said the R.I. Department of Environmental Management was notified of the incident and will send a crew out to clean up the waste.
