BOSTON (WPRI) — Three suspects are facing drug charges after police said they tried to smuggle a large amount of marijuana through Boston’s Logan International Airport Saturday.

Massachusetts State Police said troopers, along with two Homeland Security Investigations agents, staked out a gate at Logan Saturday evening after receiving a tip from law enforcement officials in Sacramento County, Calif. that Jerry McNair, 48, and Ladonna Hardman, 57, both of California, were traveling with large amounts of marijuana.

While observing the pair in baggage claim, police said they noticed a third person with Hardman and McNair who had similar luggage to the suspects.

Police said that person – Saudia Watson, 37, also of California – consented to be further interviewed at State Police-Logan,

At that time, police said investigators found 51 clear plastic bags containing more than 50 pounds of marijuana in Watson’s luggage.

Police said investigators then got search warrants for McNair and Hardman’s luggage.

According to police, McNair’s luggage had 49 bags resulting in over 50 pounds of marijuana and Hardman’s luggage had approximately the same amount.

All three suspects are expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court Monday.
