Police: Man, woman caught on camera stealing from Vietnam veteran’s home

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. (WPRI) — A Woonsocket man is scheduled to be in a Massachusetts courtroom Thursday, accused of burglarizing the home of a Vietnam War veteran.

Police say the victim, Geno Rano, 68, has been hospitalized since April 2 after suffering serious burns in an accident at his home.

Rano’s legs were amputated and he remains in a medically induced coma.

In that time, Marlborough police said surveillance video shows two suspects, identified as 31-year-old Sarah Hampton of Sudbury, Massachusetts and 35-year-old Joseph Migliaccio of Woonsocket, entering Rano’s home on three separate occasions.

Police said the pair stole televisions, appliances and a money jar.

Eyewitness News has learned this isn’t the first time Rano’s home has been burglarized. Police said he installed the surveillance cameras following a burglary in 2017, which occurred while he was hospitalized after having a stroke.
