SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WPRI) — The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) is urging residents to be wary of a text messaging scam.

The RMV said it never sends residents unsolicited requests for personal information, and that any information sent via text is always the result of a customer-initiated request.

Residents are urged to delete and report unsolicited messages claiming to be from the RMV.
