Warwick police surprise teens by jumping into their basketball tournament

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A Warwick resident captured a sweet moment between some officers and the young citizens they protect this past weekend.

Eyewitness News spotted the video that had been posted on social media by Kyle Marchese and discovered that the officers just happened to show up for the game while they were patrolling in the area.

The basketball game in play is in the Oakland Beach neighborhood of Warwick was part of Will Pariseau’s senior project at Pilgrim High School.

His father tells Eyewitness News the senior project was to raise money through a basketball tournament to benefit the Oakland Beach Boys and Girls Club.

While the guys were playing in the tournament, however, the Warwick police officers joined in unplanned.
