PEABODY, Mass. (WPRI) — Peabody Police Department is the latest law enforcement agency to urge people from buying a cell phone case that is shaped like a gun.
“If you’re considering this as a cellphone case option please don’t. It’s a tragedy waiting to happen,” the department said in a recent Facebook post.
“On first glance what do you see? Now imagine you’re a police officer in a poorly lit area and the person you’re concerned with pulls this out of their waistband. What do you do? If you said shoot good luck as you just shot someone who pulled a cellphone case out of their pants,” the post said.
It’s not just a concern in New England. Just last week, the San Mateo County Deputy Sheriff’s Association in Califonia sent out a similar warning.
