NEW YORK (WPRI) — Governor Gina Raimondo received a special award from the National Mother’s Council ahead of Mother’s Day at an event in New York City Thursday morning.
Raimondo was given an “Outstanding Mother of the Year” award at The Pierre hotel.
The awards are given to mothers across the nation for, “successfully building their careers, nurturing their families and helping improve the lives of others.”
Raimondo was among a group of women to receive the award this year, including Kohl’s Chief Executive Officer Michelle Grass, President of bareMinerals Jill Scalamandre and Rebecca Minkoff. The Champion for Children Award was also presented to Jennifer Gardner at the event on behalf of “Save the Children.”
Previous winners include Sarah Jessica Parker in 2016, Norah O’Donnell in 2014, Susan Sarandon in 2011 and Bobbi Brown in 2006.
Raimondo returns to Rhode Island Friday afternoon.
